Observations and Anecdotal Information
The essential oil of mastic has many healing properties, including prostate gland decongestant, lymph system stimulation, and urinary system disinfectant. It has also been known to help cardiovascular issues, arthritis, gout, and muscular pain.
Mastic absolute should only be used externally as a perfume or energetic support.
Historically, mastic has been produced in Chios Greece, France, and around Mediterranean Europe. The harvest is a local event, where villagers and visitors gather to enjoy the sights. In late summer when the mastic exudes and covers the trees, it is said to resemble a mass of glittering pearls that sparkle with every shade of the rainbow! During that time, people congregate just to breathe the air, which is known to be helpful for asthma and respiratory conditions.
- Absolutes should not be used internally
- Generally regarded as safe, the only known contraindication is for those who are allergic to pollen or to the mastic tree itself.
- Avoid during pregnancy and lactation, as a precaution. No known effects have been discovered or proven at this time.
- Store in a safe place, out of the reach of children.
