Anise essential oil is one of the herbs of protection and purification, and it can be diffused to purify the environment.

When applied to chakras or meridian points, anise can help stimulate the body’s natural protective energy, and the physical immune system. When inhaled, anise promotes happy dreams.  It clears and refreshens the mind.

It can open the feet, deepen breathing, and ground excess energy. Energetically, anise essential oil activates protective energy in homes and spaces.  It enhances the etheric connection (chi) through the abdomen and pelvis.  It has an affinity with the root, navel, and solar plexus chakras.

Observations and Anecdotal Information

Milder than fennel and sweeter than cumin, anise is one of the most popular remedies for indigestion, gas, and bloating.

One drop of anise essential oil in a cup of hot water, with a little honey or agave nectar, will do wonders to relieve heartburn or indigestion naturally and without taking the digestive system out of balance.  Anise is so mild and gentle that I have used it for many years in my remedy for colicky babies.  Note:  It must be highly diluted for this purpose!.

It is great for enhancing or stimulating milk production in nursing mothers.  It also is a uterine stimulant, which can be helpful during labor.  It has been used as a traditional poison antidote and hang-over remedy.
