Dill was once used by ancient Roman gladiators, who rubbed it onto their bodies to relieve stress before going into battle. It has been used by many ancient cultures for many conditions, including bronchial and respiratory infection, stomach and digestive issues, and fever reduction.
It is also a great culinary herb which actually helps to preserve anything to which it is added.
As a prime antispasmodic, dill can relieve conditions that are caused by spasm, including coughing attacks, asthmatic attacks, muscle spasms, etc. Rubbing a blend of dill essential oil diluted with a carrier oil on the solar plexus, or any muscle that is in spasm, can bring immediate relief.
Dill essential oil is becoming well known for its ability to raise insulin levels in the blood. It has an affinity for the pancreas, which produces insulin. For this reason, dill has become a primary oil for regenerating from diabetes. It has a regulating and balancing effect with blood sugar and insulin.
It can enhance milk production in lactating mothers, as well as animals; and it is an effective aid for gas, bloating, and indigestion. It has also been used for supporting the recovery of prostate cancer.
