Cleansing Symptoms

What are cleansing symptoms?

Cleansing symptoms (also called cleansing reactions) occur when the cleansing response in the body is activated by certain herbs, as well as fresh fruit and vegetable juices, or even dietary changes.

The most common cleansing symptoms include

  • Headaches
  • Itching
  • Phlegm
  • Fatigue
  • Low energy
  • Body aches and pains
  • Nausea and flu-like symptoms
  • Diarrhea or constipation

Less common symptoms that may occur during cleansing include

  • Hair loss
  • Rashes
  • Reappearance of old infections that were treated with antibiotics
  • Indigestion
  • Pain in kidneys, liver, gall bladder, intestines (especially with parasite cleansing)

What can I do if I get cleansing symptoms?

There are ways to prevent cleansing symptoms, or to relieve them if they do occur during a cleanse. Here are some of the things you can do to control the speed and intensity of your cleanse.

  • Drink lots of water to flush out toxins from the organs and digestive system.
  • Take a dose of Colon-3 Detox Powder to absorb the toxins that are causing the symptoms.
  • If you are doing a parasite cleanse, decrease or stop the herbal dosage for a day or two, until the symptoms reside. Then start up again at half the dose you were using before, and build back to your usual dose. You can even take 1/4 doses at the beginning if you are very sensitive to cleansing. As your body gets cleaner, you will be able to tolerate a normal dose of herbs.
  • You are the master of your cleanse. If you need to go slower to avoid intense or uncomfortable symptoms, simply take a lower dose of cleansing herbs and increase the time frame that you are on the cleanse. You can get the same result over a longer time with a smaller dose.
  • Enemas or home colonics are a wonderful tool to reduce discomfort on a cleanse. They eliminate a lot of toxicity at once, often relieving headaches, body pain, and other cleansing symptoms quickly.

Why Are Cleansing Symptoms a Good Sign?

Many cleansing symptoms are a result of parasites dying off in the body. When this happens in large numbers, it can feel like we have the flu; headaches, body pain, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, etc. If we keep the intestines moving with regular bowel movements, allowing the toxins to flush out, the symptoms (if any) will subside more quickly. If the die-off blocks or slows our bowel movements, those toxins are retained, and reabsorbed back into the blood stream. This is what creates the symptoms and discomfort associated with cleansing. If we have these symptoms, it is a clear sign that we need to clean the parasites out if we want to reach a higher level of vibrant health.

Another set of cleansing symptoms can arise from liver and gall bladder cleansing, (or any deep tissue or organ cleansing). When we take antibiotics or other drugs to suppress any kind of viral or bacterial infection, the infecting organism is not gone from our bodies. Instead, it is suppressed into a dormant state, often buried in our spinal tissue, liver, or fat cells. When we begin herbal cleansing protocols, these dormant organisms are reawakened, giving the immune system a chance to overcome them. This is why the same symptoms may appear when organisms are on the way out of your body, as when they were first coming into your body.
